Welcome to the C.A.T. Cafe Bakery, situated within the historic and haunted Walker County Jail. Here, we have created a welcoming atmosphere for both our house spirits and those of the land. Until 1924, each county was accountable for conducting its own executions. However, following a change in the law, the state assumed responsibility, and executions subsequently took place in the Execution Room at The Walls unit, located just four blocks away. Notably, a respected local historian, James Patton, has confirmed that the pecan tree in our backyard served as the hanging tree for Walker County until 1924. We invite you to explore the jailhouse with your team. Set up your equipment and engage in communication with our resident spirits. Gifts are certainly not required, however, we have found that the spirits do respond to and enjoy receiving presents. If you wish to do so, we recommend any of following as gifts for the spirits you visit: Recordings of Jazz music, or traditional mid 1800 Mexican music to play for some particular spirits. If you play an instrument, you may get more response. Several bands have jammed in the cells with interesting results. Small individually wrapped candies for gifts to several locations Whiskey for shots for the ghosts; They prefer Wild Turkey, but recently across the spirit box we did hear someone ask for Jim Beam. However, any spirit you wish to offer to our house spirits would be appreciated. Shot glasses are available for use. Cigarettes / chewing tobacco / matches / lighters. Avoid cigars. The Guys have Kyle, the cigar patron. Small candy bars; old fashioned brands from the late 1970s and before are best. M&Ms plain and peanut are enjoyed in a couple of places. Small toys or comfort items appropriate for a 6-year-old boy. He likes apples. Anything that could be used for betting and gambling. Newspapers or magazines, especially sports related. You would make one spirit especialy happy. Pictures / memorabilia of the great musicians from the Jazz age or from 50s to 70s rock, rocka billy, great guitar riffs age. If you wish to do something bigger: one of our ghosts has been hoping for a guitar or sheet music. If you happen to have a guitar you are willing to donate, he seems to like Santana style guitar music.
