All Hallows Eve(ish) Samhain Celebration

It’s getting spooky with Samhain at the haunted jailhouse as we celebrate All Hallow’s Eve.

Saturday, October 28th from 8P to Midnight, the C.A.T. Café hosts an adult-only celebration to have a little fun.

Don your costumes. Celebrate the ancestors of the land. Enjoy fall wines from Maydelle Country Wines by the glass, or take home a bottle or two. Sample sweets and treats by CAT Café. Have your palm or tarot read. Take home spooky pictures by Photography by Cade.

The house spirits are always active. We imagine that at this event, they may be even more so.

All are welcome as long as the house rules are followed; Kindness, Dignity, & Respect for each other.

Attendees must be 18 or older. Additional wine available for purchase.

Session 1: 8P to 10P

         $22/person (1 glass of wine), or $17/person (no wine)

Samhain Gatherings

By the 9th century, Samhain was a time of festival and celebration. Communities would gather in large groups to eat, drink, and be merry. This meant that Samhain also had political importance as it was a time to reaffirm bonds with neighbors and allies, and leaders could confirm and pass rules and laws.

With the community gathered, mumming or guising, the root of trick-or-treating, was practiced. People would dress up in masked costumes and go from place to place dancing and reciting verses in exchange for food. Traditions around hospitality and welcoming guests meant that denying these passersby food could bring bad luck and perhaps also a trick from the disappointed players.
